Patna. A state in Eastern India Different types of sweets are very famous in many cities. Many places of Bihar are associated with the taste of certain food items. Those who reared cows in the era of Saadi ‘Lai’ i.e. around 1955. Due to some reasons the sale of their milk stopped for two-three days. To save that milk from getting wasted, he made it Mawa and mixed it with plain ‘Lai’ to make ‘Mavedar Lai’. Whoever ate this lye became a fan of it and soon its demand increased.

Has more than 60 factories and 200 shops

In today’s date, the demand for this delicious ‘Lai’ has increased so much that only in Barh city about 60 factories are running. Today it has become a major source of income for many people here. Its fame is also reflected in the fact that as soon as the border of Bihar is entered, the sound of ‘Badh ki mashaor mithai, Badh ki lai’ is heard even in the train.

As its demand is increasing, this employment is spreading to other cities as well. Because starting this employment does not require much capital nor any big equipment, the way to make it is also very easy. Which can be learned even in a day. Also it can be started in a room with very less equipment.

In this business, most care is taken on its quality. This is the reason why the ‘Lai’ here goes to Russia, America and England. Being made of pure ‘Mawa’, this sweet is very tasty and easily digestible, as well as it can be kept for a few days even without refrigerator. Sugar, mawa, cardamom, cashew-raisins and ramdana are needed to make it, which are easily available everywhere. Presently this special lye is sold from 330 to 350 per kg.
